I’m a little bit quirky, a little bit unbalanced and lots of fun. I take my career as a psychologist very serious but even the most serious jobs need a little humour.
Many years ago I thought I’d do stand-up comedy. I figured there’s nothing like laughing at ourselves from time to time. It never happened. Unsure why. Fear maybe ? Fear I’d offend someone and I’d end up hauled in front of the Psychologist Registration Board with a “Please Explain”. I guess I didn’t think it was worth the hassle.
So my humour is expressed in other ways. Mostly I laugh at myself. I set myself ridiculous goals like doing 50 chin ups in a row (yes I did 50 but not without a break every 10) and 500 sit ups (once upon a time I had abs).
Nowadays my goals are a little more down to earth. Like teaching my daughter to ride her bicycle without training-wheels before she turns 18. Or going on a Mother/Daughter camping trip and surviving a weekend without the hairdryer and make up (oh dear, am I really that vain).
That’s me !
